|Excellent Condition (1 Available)|| |
These issues are extremely nice. These are in amazing condition and are great for framing or giving as a cherished gift. Some may have very minor defects and address labels.
|Good Condition (4 Available)|| |
These issues are in pretty good shape. These are great for those who want a complete, original, average condition issue to read and enjoy. They may have some light to moderate flaws like small tears, spots, library stamps etc. but would make a great piece of history for the budget minded to mark any occasion.
Some of the contents in this issue
60th Anniversary Collector's edition. A tribute to photographer Carl Mydans by the editor of LIFE. A brief description of the start of LIFE in 1936, including some covers of the earlier satirical Life and the Rehearsal "Dummy" issue that appeared before the November 23, 1936 issue. All through this issue is very neat, behind-the-scenes coverage on how LIFE actually was produced, the decisions, the deadlines, stopping the presses for last minute cover changes, and such. Unusual photo of FDR seated during prayers while everyone else stood - he could not use his legs because of polio. Full page ad for E.T. the movie on videocassette. Chilling photo of Olympic athlete Jesse Owens standing in the gold medal position on the podium while the third place winner gives the Nazi salute in Berlin in 1936. This issue compares lots of facts and photos between 1936 and 1996. Full page photo plus page of text about Flavio da Silva of Rio de Janeiro. A repeat (in smaller format) of One Week's Dead from the June 27, 1969 issue. Two page color photo of the seven astronauts and their wives (two different covers of LIFE). Full page Absolute vodka ad - Absolute Venice with pigeons. Full page color Milk ad with Ivana Trump. Includes a reproduction of ALL of the covers of LIFE from 1936 on.
